A bill for an act
relating to education; requiring financial aid information to be provided to high
school students; amending Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 120B.02, by adding
a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2018, section 120B.02, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Using information provided by the commissioners
of education and higher education, a school district or charter school must provide every
student in the last year of high school and the student's parent or guardian with information
regarding state and federal need-based and merit-based financial aid programs to support
postsecondary education and training. The school district or charter school must ensure that
each student receives adequate support in completing and submitting an application for
financial aid.
