A bill for an act
relating to education; providing for teacher training in rigorous content;
amending Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 122A.18, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2006, section 122A.18, is amended by adding a
subdivision to read:

new text begin All colleges and universities approved by the Board
of Teaching to prepare persons for classroom teacher licensure for students in grades
5 through 12 must include in their teacher preparation programs training to prepare
licensure candidates to teach advanced placement, international baccalaureate, college in
the schools, or other concurrent enrollment programs that enable the licensure candidate to
teach rigorous courses in their content area.
