  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; restricting the phaseout of 
  1.3             training and experience revenue; amending Minnesota 
  1.4             Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 126C.10, subdivision 
  1.5             5. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1999 Supplement, section 
  1.8   126C.10, subdivision 5, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 5.  [TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE REVENUE.] (a) The 
  1.10  training and experience revenue for each district equals the 
  1.11  greater of zero or the result of the following computation:  
  1.12     (1) subtract .8 from the training and experience index; 
  1.13     (2) multiply the result in clause (1) by the product of 
  1.14  $660 times the adjusted marginal cost pupil units for the school 
  1.15  year. 
  1.16     (b) Beginning in fiscal year 2000, if the revenue generated 
  1.17  in paragraph (a) for a school district in the current fiscal 
  1.18  year is less than 80 percent of the training and experience 
  1.19  revenue generated in the prior fiscal year, the training and 
  1.20  experience revenue shall be the greater of the amount generated 
  1.21  in paragraph (a), or 80 percent of the training and experience 
  1.22  revenue that the district received in the prior year.  
  1.23     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.24     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
