  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to railroads; appropriating money to the 
  1.3             commissioner of transportation for a grant to the Lake 
  1.4             Superior and Mississippi railroad. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $300,000 is appropriated from the general fund for fiscal 
  1.8   year 1999 to the Minnesota historical society for a grant to the 
  1.9   Lake Superior and Mississippi railroad, a 501(c)(3) 
  1.10  organization, for the purchase and installation of railroad ties.
  1.11     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.12     Section 1 is effective July 1, 1998.
