A bill for an act
relating to veterans; waiving certain application fees for persons serving in
active service or retired from active service; proposing coding for new law in
Minnesota Statutes, chapter 197.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin Notwithstanding any other provision of Minnesota Statutes, it is prohibited for any
person, business, organization, public or private agency, or their designees to charge,
assess, or levy a fee for a rental application of any type by a person who is serving in
active service in any branch or unit of the United States armed forces, or by a person who
has been discharged from and is receiving military retirement pay from the United States
government for having provided active service.

new text begin To be eligible for the benefit described in this section, a person must have served
honorably, as shown by an other than dishonorable discharge.

applications initiated on or after that date.
