A bill for an act
relating to military veterans; appropriating money for grants to centers for
independent living to provide services to veterans.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. APPROPRIATION; CENTERS FOR INDEPENDENT LIVING.

(a) $590,000 in fiscal year 2018 and $590,000 in fiscal year 2019 are appropriated from
the general fund to the commissioner of employment and economic development for grants
to centers for independent living under Minnesota Statutes, section 268A.11. The grant
money must be used to hire eight full-time employees to provide services to veterans.

(b) The amount appropriated in fiscal year 2018 is available until spent.

(c) The appropriations under paragraph (a) are in addition to the appropriations under
Laws 2017, chapter 94, article 1, section 2, subdivision 6, paragraph (b).

EFFECTIVE DATE.

The fiscal year 2018 appropriation is effective the day following
final enactment. The fiscal year 2019 appropriation is effective July 1, 2018.
