A bill for an act
relating to consumer protection; requiring that used motor vehicle transactions be
conducted in a single language; amending Minnesota Statutes 2020, section
325F.662, by adding a subdivision.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

Minnesota Statutes 2020, section 325F.662, is amended by adding a subdivision
to read:

new text begin Single-language transactions. new text end

new text begin When engaging in a transaction to sell a used
motor vehicle, the dealer and the consumer must conduct the transaction in a single language.
The dealer and the consumer must agree on the language used before commencing a
discussion or negotiation that may lead to a sale or transaction. Before executing a contract,
the dealer must ensure the consumer understands the terms of the contract.
