  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to agriculture; providing continuing support 
  1.3             for turf grass research and development in northern 
  1.4             Minnesota; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.7      $80,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   commissioner of agriculture for a grant to the University of 
  1.9   Minnesota for funding of continued research and development on 
  1.10  improved turf grasses to be produced in northern Minnesota.  The 
  1.11  agronomy department shall continue its collaboration with turf 
  1.12  seed producing and seed marketing companies in the northern part 
  1.13  of the state.  This appropriation remains available until June 
  1.14  30, 1997. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.16     Section 1 is effective the day after final enactment.
