A bill for an act
relating to education; appropriating money for the Rushford-Peterson school
district for a new school to replace an aged school extensively damaged by
flood water.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin RUSHFORD-PETERSON SCHOOL DISTRICT; APPROPRIATION.

new text begin $7,500,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2012 from the general fund to the
commissioner of education for a grant to Independent School District No. 239,
Rushford-Peterson, to build a school facility to replace the deteriorating elementary
and high school facility that was originally built in 1906 on a sand and wood base and
extensively damaged by flood water in 2007 when 17 inches of rain flooded the school
and sent raw sewage through the first floor and into the settling earth below with resulting
mold, unusable bathrooms, crumbling ceilings, and bursting pipes. This appropriation
does not cancel and is available until expended.
