relating to higher education; requiring equal treatment of professional doctorate
degrees and master's degrees at Minnesota State Colleges and Universities;
proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 136F.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

[136F.597] DEGREE EQUIVALENCY FOR FACULTY.

For purposes of hiring and assigning teaching faculty, the board shall treat a professional
doctorate degree as at least equal to a master's degree, provided that the professional doctorate
was awarded by an accredited postsecondary institution in the United States.
