  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to taxation; repealing the authority of 
  1.3             certain towns in St. Louis county to impose an 
  1.4             aggregate materials tax; repealing Laws 1997, chapter 
  1.5             231, article 8, section 15. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [REPEALER.] 
  1.8      Laws 1997, chapter 231, article 8, section 15, is repealed. 
  1.9      Sec. 2.  [APPLICABILITY.] 
  1.10     Section 1 applies to the following towns in St. Louis 
  1.11  county:  Alden, Brevator, Conosia, Duluth, Fredenberg, Gnesen, 
  1.12  Grand Lake, Industrial, Lakewood, Midway, Normanna, North Star, 
  1.13  Rice Lake, and Solway. 
  1.14     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.15     Under Minnesota Statutes, section 645.023, subdivision 1, 
  1.16  clause (b), section 1 is effective April 1, 2000, without local 
  1.17  approval for aggregate material removed or imported after March 
  1.18  31, 2000.
