  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to income tax; modifying the application 
  1.3             period for the urban homesteading program; amending 
  1.4             Laws 1995, chapter 255, article 3, section 2, 
  1.5             subdivision 4, as amended. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Laws 1995, chapter 255, article 3, section 2, 
  1.8   subdivision 4, as amended by Laws 1996, chapter 464, article 4, 
  1.9   section 2, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 4.  [EXPIRATION.] Initial applications for the urban 
  1.11  homesteading program in the zones designated under subdivision 
  1.12  1, paragraph (a), shall not be accepted after July 1, 1997, for 
  1.13  homes purchased and occupied before May 1, 1997.  For homes 
  1.14  purchased and occupied on or after May 1, 1997, initial 
  1.15  applications shall not be accepted after June 30, 1998. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
