  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to health occupations; permitting the board 
  1.3             of dietetics and nutrition practice to waive licensure 
  1.4             requirements for dietitians. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [TEMPORARY LICENSURE WAIVER FOR DIETITIANS.] 
  1.7      Until October 31, 1998, the board of dietetics and 
  1.8   nutrition practice may waive the requirements for licensure as a 
  1.9   dietitian established in Minnesota Statutes, section 148.624, 
  1.10  subdivision 1, clause (1), and may issue a license to an 
  1.11  applicant who meets the qualifications for licensure specified 
  1.12  in Minnesota Statutes, section 148.627, subdivision 1.  A waiver 
  1.13  may be granted in cases in which unusual or extraordinary 
  1.14  job-related circumstances prevented an applicant from applying 
  1.15  for licensure during the transition period specified in 
  1.16  Minnesota Statutes, section 148.627, subdivision 1.  An 
  1.17  applicant must request a waiver in writing and must explain the 
  1.18  circumstances that prevented the applicant from applying for 
  1.19  licensure during the transition period. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.21     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
