  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state lands; authorizing private sale of 
  1.3             certain tax-forfeited peat land in St. Louis county. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [PRIVATE SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED PEAT LAND; ST. 
  1.6   LOUIS COUNTY.] 
  1.7      (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 92.461, the 
  1.8   public sale provisions of Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, or 
  1.9   other law to the contrary, St. Louis county may sell by private 
  1.10  sale the tax-forfeited land with commercial quantities of peat 
  1.11  that is described in paragraph (c), under the remaining 
  1.12  provisions of Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282. 
  1.13     (b) The land described in paragraph (c) may be sold by 
  1.14  private sale for its appraised value.  The sale must be in a 
  1.15  form approved by the attorney general. 
  1.16     (c) The land to be sold is located in St. Louis county and 
  1.17  is described as: 
  1.18     The east one-half of the Northwest Quarter of the Northwest 
  1.19     Quarter, Section 11, Township 55 North, Range 18 West. 
  1.20     (d) The county has determined that the county's land 
  1.21  management interests would best be served if the land was 
  1.22  returned to private ownership.
