  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to counties; authorizing counties in the 
  1.3             metropolitan area to create economic development 
  1.4             service providers; amending Minnesota Statutes 2002, 
  1.5             section 469.1082, subdivision 1. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 469.1082, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [AUTHORITY TO CREATE.] A county located 
  1.10  outside the metropolitan area may form a county economic 
  1.11  development authority or grant a housing and redevelopment 
  1.12  authority the powers specified in subdivision 4, clause (2), if 
  1.13  it receives a recommendation to do so from a committee formed 
  1.14  under subdivision 2.  An economic development authority 
  1.15  established under this section has all the powers and rights of 
  1.16  an authority under sections 469.090 to 469.1081, except the 
  1.17  authority granted under section 469.094 if so limited under 
  1.18  subdivision 4.  This section is in addition to any other 
  1.19  authority to create a county economic development authority or 
  1.20  service provider.
