  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; amending the average daily 
  1.3             membership for flood-affected school districts; 
  1.4             amending Laws 1997, First Special Session chapter 4, 
  1.5             article 4, section 33. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Laws 1997, First Special Session chapter 4, 
  1.8   article 4, section 33, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Sec. 33.  [1996-1997 AND 1997-1998 AVERAGE DAILY 
  1.10  MEMBERSHIP.] 
  1.11     Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 124.17, the 
  1.12  1996-1997 and 1997-1998 average daily membership for a school 
  1.13  building closed due to flooding for part of the school year and 
  1.14  reopened before the end of the school year shall be the greater 
  1.15  of the amount that would have been computed if the school 
  1.16  building had not reopened or the amount computed using actual 
  1.17  data for the entire school year. 
  1.18     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.19     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
