  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to transportation; authorizing metropolitan 
  1.3             council to grant naming rights for light rail transit 
  1.4             stations and apply revenues to operating costs; 
  1.5             amending Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 473.405, 
  1.6             subdivision 4. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 473.405, 
  1.9   subdivision 4, is amended to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 4.  [TRANSIT SYSTEMS.] The council may engineer, 
  1.11  construct, equip, and operate transit and paratransit systems, 
  1.12  projects, or any parts thereof, including road lanes or rights 
  1.13  of way, terminal facilities, maintenance and garage facilities, 
  1.14  ramps, parking areas, and any other facilities useful for or 
  1.15  related to any public transit or paratransit system or project.  
  1.16  The council may sell or lease naming rights with regard to light 
  1.17  rail transit stations and apply revenues from sales or leases to 
  1.18  light rail transit operating costs.
