A bill for an act
relating to public safety; appropriating money for mental health services and
outdoor activities for law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical
services personnel.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin HOMETOWN HERO OUTDOORS; APPROPRIATION .

new text begin $500,000 in fiscal year 2024 and $500,000 in fiscal year 2025 are appropriated from the
general fund to the commissioner of public safety to provide a grant to Hometown Hero
Outdoors nonprofit organization, to fund outdoor recreational activities and mental health
services to current and former law enforcement officers, firefighters, and emergency medical
services personnel to promote positive mental health and interaction with mental health
service professionals, to promote longevity and quality of life through outdoor activities
and mental health services, to assist in healing and building healthy relationships within the
community, to educate the public, and to ensure the longevity of the organization to continue
supporting persons who have served in these professions.
