  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to highways; directing commissioner of 
  1.3             transportation to erect noise barriers along a segment 
  1.4             of marked trunk highway No. 100 as a high priority 
  1.5             project. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [NOISE BARRIERS.] 
  1.8      The commissioner of transportation shall, as a high 
  1.9   priority project during the fiscal biennium ending June 30, 
  1.10  1997, construct noise barriers on both sides of marked trunk 
  1.11  highway No. 100 in Edina, between a point 500 feet northerly of 
  1.12  West 44th Street southerly to its intersection with West 50th 
  1.13  Street, sufficient so that noise levels emanating from the 
  1.14  highway do not exceed state noise standards within one-eighth 
  1.15  mile to either side of the noise barriers. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.17     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
