care coverage; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter
135A.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin A governing board of a Minnesota public postsecondary system that requires health
benefit plan coverage for students, must offer options for health plan coverage. The
options must include an option to waive the requirement to purchase a plan selected by
the institution. At a minimum, the waiver option must allow students to purchase health
care plans from the state of Minnesota, employer group coverage, private insurers, and
association group coverage.
