  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; modifying the provider tax 
  1.3             paid by federally qualified health centers and rural 
  1.4             health centers; appropriating money.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [FEDERALLY QUALIFIED HEALTH CENTER AND RURAL 
  1.7   HEALTH CENTER GRANTS.] 
  1.8      The commissioner of human services shall provide grants to 
  1.9   federally qualified health centers and rural health centers 
  1.10  equal to the percentage of the provider tax imposed under 
  1.11  Minnesota Statutes, sections 295.50 to 295.59, for the previous 
  1.12  calendar year multiplied by the payments made to each health 
  1.13  center in the previous calendar year for medical assistance and 
  1.14  MinnesotaCare recipients who are eligible for federal matching 
  1.15  funds.  The grants shall be distributed by April 15 of each year 
  1.16  beginning April 15, 2005.  The grant amount for each health 
  1.17  center shall be based on the federal share of the payments made 
  1.18  to each health center as identified in this section.  
  1.19     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.20     $....... in fiscal year 2005 is appropriated from the 
  1.21  general fund to the commissioner of human services for the 
  1.22  purposes of section 1.
