A bill for an act
relating to education; requiring schools to adopt,
implement, and regularly practice a uniform lock down
plan; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 121A.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1.

new text begin (a) School districts, as part of a comprehensive school
safety plan, and in consultation with local law enforcement
officials, must adopt and implement a uniform, coordinated, and
consistent kindergarten through grade 12 lock down plan to
respond to serious or large-scale public safety threats in
school buildings and on school grounds. Districts must ensure
that school officials, in coordination with local law
enforcement officials and other emergency responders, conduct
regular lock down drills for school personnel and students.
