A bill for an act
relating to the environment; requiring wet-strength paperboard manufactured or
sold in this state to be recyclable; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota
Statutes, chapter 115A.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

(a) After January 1, 2009, a person may not manufacture, offer for sale, or sell any
wet-strength paperboard designed for use as packaging or as a storage container unless it is:

(1) recyclable; and

(2) printed with inks that contain no heavy metals or other toxic materials.

(b) For purposes of this section, "wet-strength paperboard" means a stiff, moderately
thick paperboard.
