A bill for an act
relating to agriculture; appropriating money to develop a pesticide without
neonicotinoids.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin POLLINATOR-FRIENDLY PESTICIDE DEVELOPMENT;
APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) $500,000 in fiscal year 2017 is appropriated from the general fund to the Board
of Regents of the University of Minnesota for the Department of Entomology to develop
a pesticide for use in Minnesota that is free from neonicotinoids and is not harmful
to pollinators.

new text begin (b) By January 15, 2017, the Board of Regents of the University of Minnesota
shall report to the chairs and ranking minority members of the senate and house of
representatives legislative committees having jurisdiction over agriculture policy and
finance on the activities and the outcome of the activities funded under this section.
