  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to human services; increasing medical 
  1.3             assistance and general assistance medical care 
  1.4             payments for ambulance services; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1996, sections 256B.0625, by adding a 
  1.6             subdivision; and 256D.03, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.7   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.8      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 256B.0625, is 
  1.9   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.10     Subd. 17a.  [PAYMENT FOR AMBULANCE SERVICES.] Effective for 
  1.11  services rendered on or after July 1, 1999, medical assistance 
  1.12  payments for ambulance services are increased by ten percent 
  1.13  from the lower of:  (1) the submitted charges; or (2) the 50th 
  1.14  percentile of the prevailing charge for 1982. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1996, section 256D.03, is 
  1.16  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.17     Subd. 9.  [PAYMENT FOR AMBULANCE SERVICES.] Effective July 
  1.18  1, 1999, general assistance medical care payments for ambulance 
  1.19  services are increased by ten percent from the lower of:  (1) 
  1.20  the submitted charges; or (2) the 50th percentile of the 
  1.21  prevailing charge for 1982. 
  1.22     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.23     Sections 1 and 2 are effective July 1, 1999.
