  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to gambling; appropriating money for 
  1.3             compulsive gambling prevention and education. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.6      $75,000 in fiscal year 2005 is appropriated from the 
  1.7   lottery prize fund to the commissioner of human services for a 
  1.8   grant to the Northstar Problem Gambling Alliance, located in 
  1.9   Arlington, Minnesota.  The Northstar Problem Gambling Alliance 
  1.10  must provide services to increase public awareness of problem 
  1.11  gambling, education and training for individuals and 
  1.12  organizations providing services to problem gamblers and their 
  1.13  families, and research relating to problem gambling.  This 
  1.14  appropriation is contingent on the demonstration of an equal 
  1.15  amount in nonstate matching funds to the commissioner of finance 
  1.16  but may be disbursed in two payments of $37,500 upon receipt of 
  1.17  a commitment for an equal amount of matching nonstate funds.
