A bill for an act
relating to transportation; permitting the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board
to reduce speed limits on parkways under its jurisdiction; requiring local approval.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Notwithstanding the provisions of Minnesota Statutes, section 169.14, subdivision 5e,
or any other law to the contrary, the Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board may establish
a speed limit on a parkway located within a park under its ownership and jurisdiction. The
speed limit must not be lower than 20 miles per hour. A speed limit established under this
law is effective on erection of appropriate signs designating the speed limit and indicating
the beginning and end of the reduced speed zone. Any speed in excess of the posted speed
is unlawful.

This act is effective the day after the governing body of the
Minneapolis Park and Recreation Board and its chief clerical officer comply with Minnesota
Statutes, section 645.021, subdivisions 2 and 3.
