A bill for an act
relating to health; appropriating money for demonstration grants to prevent
sexual violence.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

(a) $175,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the commissioner of health
in fiscal year 2012 and in fiscal year 2013 to establish preventing sexual violence
demonstration grants. The appropriation for fiscal years 2012 and 2013 shall be
administered by the commissioner as part of the injury and violence prevention unit in
cooperation with the commissioner of public safety and the Office of Justice Programs.

(b) Of the appropriation in paragraph (a), $210,000 shall be used to establish three
Preventing Sexual Violence Demonstration Communities, selecting sites according to
the epidemiological assessment of the impact of sexual violence, potential for effective
outcomes, and geographic diversity. $70,000 shall be used to contract with a nonprofit
partner to provide technical assistance for design, implementation, and evaluation
of the demonstration grants. $70,000 is available to the commissioner of health for
administration of the demonstration grants.
