1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to public safety; requiring the commissioner 1.3 of public safety to recognize certain accident 1.4 prevention courses taken in other states; amending 1.5 Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 65B.28, subdivision 2. 1.6 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.7 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 2002, section 65B.28, 1.8 subdivision 2, is amended to read: 1.9 Subd. 2. [ACCIDENT PREVENTION COURSE; RULES.] The 1.10 commissioner of public safety shall adopt rules establishing and 1.11 regulating a motor vehicle accident prevention course for 1.12 persons 55 years old and older. The rules must, at a minimum, 1.13 include provisions: 1.14 (1) establishing curriculum requirements; 1.15 (2) establishing the number of hours required for 1.16 successful completion of the course;and1.17 (3) allowing for recognition of courses taken in other 1.18 states with approved curriculum substantially similar to that 1.19 established in Minnesota; and 1.20 (4) providing for the issuance of a course completion 1.21 certification and requiring its submission to an insured as 1.22 evidence of completion of the course.
