1.1 A bill for an act

1.4 display lighted red light when responding to
1.5 emergency; amending Minnesota Statutes 1997

1.8 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1997 Supplement, section
1.9 169.17, is amended to read:
  1.10 169.17 [EMERGENCY VEHICLES.]
1.11 The speed limitations set forth in sections 169.14 to
1.12 169.17 do not apply to an authorized emergency vehicle
1.13 responding to an emergency call. Drivers of all emergency
1.14 vehicles shall sound an audible signal by siren and display at

1.19 of an authorized emergency vehicle from the duty to drive with
1.20 due regard for the safety of persons using the street, nor does
1.21 it protect the driver of an authorized emergency vehicle from
1.22 the consequence of a reckless disregard of the safety of others.
