A bill for an act
relating to human services; appropriating money for homeless programs.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION.

new text begin (a) $1,000,000 is appropriated for the biennium beginning July 1, 2009, from the
general fund to the commissioner of human services for the Runaway and Homeless
Youth Act under Minnesota Statutes, section 256K.45. Funds shall be spent in each area
of the continuum of care to ensure that programs are meeting the greatest need. This
appropriation is added to the base.

new text begin (b) $3,000,000 is appropriated for the biennium beginning July 1, 2009, from the
general fund to the commissioner of human services to implement programs to address
long-term homelessness under Minnesota Statutes, section 256K.26. This appropriation is
added to the base.

new text begin (c) $750,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2010 from the general fund to the
commissioner of human services for transitional housing programs under Minnesota
Statutes, section 256E.33. Up to ten percent of this appropriation may be used for housing
and services which extend beyond 24 months. This appropriation is added to the base.

new text begin (d) $600,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 2010 from the general fund to the
commissioner of human services for emergency services grants under Laws 1997, chapter
162, article 3, section 7. This appropriation is added to the base.
