  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to real property; providing that the title to 
  1.3             all real property must be registered by the year 2030; 
  1.4             phasing in registration requirements; amending 
  1.5             Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 462.358, by adding a 
  1.6             subdivision; proposing coding for new law in Minnesota 
  1.7             Statutes, chapters 386; 505; 507; 508; and 508A. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  [386.80] [EXPIRATION OF LAW.] 
  1.10     This chapter expires effective January 1, 2030. 
  1.11     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1998, section 462.358, is 
  1.12  amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.13     Subd. 11.  [TITLE MUST BE REGISTERED.] Effective January 1, 
  1.14  2010, a municipality may not approve a subdivision under this 
  1.15  section unless title to the parcels or lots within the 
  1.16  subdivision is registered under chapter 508 or 508A. 
  1.17     Sec. 3.  [505.011] [TITLE MUST BE REGISTERED.] 
  1.18     Effective January 1, 2010, a city or county may not approve 
  1.19  a plat under this chapter unless title to the lots within the 
  1.20  plat is registered under chapter 508 or 508A. 
  1.21     Sec. 4.  [507.011] [TITLE MUST BE REGISTERED.] 
  1.22     Effective January 1, 2020, a real estate conveyance may not 
  1.23  be filed unless title to the real property that is the subject 
  1.24  of the conveyance has been registered under chapter 508 or 508A. 
  1.25     Sec. 5.  [508.011] [TITLE MUST BE REGISTERED.] 
  1.26     Effective January 1, 2030, title to all real estate must be 
  2.1   registered under this chapter or chapter 508A. 
  2.2      Sec. 6.  [508A.011] [TITLE MUST BE REGISTERED.] 
  2.3      Effective January 1, 2030, title to all real estate must be 
  2.4   registered under this chapter or chapter 508.
