  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to public safety; requiring rules of 
  1.3             Department of Public Safety governing colors of Sam 
  1.4             Browne belts and school safety patrol flags to allow 
  1.5             certain colors. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [SCHOOL SAFETY RULES; AUTHORIZED COLORS.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [SAM BROWNE BELTS OF SCHOOL SAFETY 
  1.9   PATROLS.] The commissioner of public safety shall amend 
  1.10  Minnesota Rules, part 7415.0400, subpart 1, so that Sam Browne 
  1.11  belts worn by school safety patrol members may be fluorescent 
  1.12  yellow, fluorescent yellow-green, blaze orange, or white. 
  1.13     Subd. 2.  [SCHOOL SAFETY PATROL FLAGS.] The commissioner 
  1.14  shall amend Minnesota Rules, part 7415.0300, to allow school 
  1.15  safety patrol flags to be (1) blaze orange with a yellow octagon 
  1.16  bearing the word "Stop" in black letters, or (2) fluorescent 
  1.17  yellow or fluorescent yellow-green with an octagon of sharply 
  1.18  contrasting color bearing the word "Stop" in black letters. 
  1.19     Subd. 3.  [COMPLIANCE WITH ADMINISTRATIVE PROCEDURE 
  1.20  ACT.] The commissioner shall comply with Minnesota Statutes, 
  1.21  section 14.389, in adopting the amendments required under this 
  1.22  section.
