  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to cities; International Falls; providing for 
  1.3             notification of residency requirements. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [INTERNATIONAL FALLS; NOTIFICATION OF RESIDENCY 
  1.6   REQUIREMENTS.] 
  1.7      Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, section 415.16, or 
  1.8   provision of other law, home rule charter, ordinance, resolution 
  1.9   or rule to the contrary, the city of International Falls must 
  1.10  provide 30 days' written notice to employees to require 
  1.11  residency within the city's territorial limits as a condition of 
  1.12  continued employment by the city.  The residency requirement 
  1.13  will not apply to employees who have resided out of the city in 
  1.14  accordance with city ordinance prior to the date this 
  1.15  requirement is imposed. 
  1.16     Sec. 2.  [LOCAL APPROVAL.] 
  1.17     Section 1 takes effect the day after the governing body of 
  1.18  the city of International Falls complies with Minnesota 
  1.19  Statutes, section 645.021, subdivision 3.
