A bill for an act
relating to energy improvements; appropriating money for solar-generated
energy power equipment.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin APPROPRIATION GRANT FOR SOLAR ENERGY.

new text begin Of the money available to Minnesota from the American Recovery and Reinvestment
Act of 2009, Public Law 111-5, and allocated to the Department of Commerce for the
state energy program, $2,000,000 is appropriated to the commissioner of commerce for a
grant to a solar panel manufacturing facility that makes key components called thermal
disposition sources and designs photovoltaic material delivery equipment to produce
low-cost solar panels in mass production, provided that the facility retains 85 jobs, and
creates eight research and development jobs, and at least 20 new manufacturing jobs over
a three-year period in Minnesota.

that an equal match from nonstate resources is available. This appropriation is available
until expended.
