  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to higher education; appropriating money to 
  1.3             the board of trustees of the Minnesota state colleges 
  1.4             and universities for a collaborative program for 
  1.5             teacher recruitment and development between St. Cloud 
  1.6             State University and independent school district No. 
  1.7             742, St. Cloud. 
  1.8   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.9      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.10     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the board 
  1.11  of trustees of the Minnesota state colleges and universities in 
  1.12  the 2002-2003 fiscal biennium for a collaborative program for 
  1.13  teacher recruitment and development between St. Cloud State 
  1.14  University and independent school district No. 742, St. Cloud.  
  1.15  The collaborative program shall be focused on the recruitment, 
  1.16  preparation, and mentoring of future teachers in discipline 
  1.17  areas currently experiencing shortages such as mathematics, 
  1.18  science, and technology.  The appropriation may be used for 
  1.19  teacher preparation program development, student field 
  1.20  experience, and recruitment incentives such as tuition waivers 
  1.21  and student scholarships.  The board shall report on uses of the 
  1.22  appropriation in the biennial budget.
