  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to employment; establishing a pilot program 
  1.3             for long-term vocational rehabilitation services for 
  1.4             persons with brain injuries; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [LONG-TERM EMPLOYMENT SERVICES.] 
  1.7      Within the limits of the appropriations made specifically 
  1.8   for this purpose, the commissioner of economic security shall 
  1.9   initiate a pilot project to provide long-term employment 
  1.10  services to persons diagnosed with brain injury.  The program 
  1.11  shall be administered under the provisions of Minnesota 
  1.12  Statutes, section 268A.15. 
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [REPORT REQUIRED.] 
  1.14     The commissioner of economic security shall prepare a 
  1.15  report to the legislature by January 15, 2003, identifying the 
  1.16  results of the pilot project under section 1 and making 
  1.17  recommendations on continuation of the project. 
  1.18     Sec. 3.  [APPROPRIATIONS.] 
  1.19     $1,000,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.20  commissioner of economic security for the purpose of section 1, 
  1.21  to be available until June 30, 2003.
