  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state government; requiring a study of the 
  1.3             feasibility of long-term care insurance for retiring 
  1.4             state employees. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [LONG-TERM CARE COVERAGE STUDY.] 
  1.7      The commissioner of employee relations, with the assistance 
  1.8   of the labor-management committee established in Minnesota 
  1.9   Statutes, section 43A.316, subdivision 4, shall study the 
  1.10  feasibility of providing an optional long-term care insurance 
  1.11  benefit to state employees, either as a separate policy or 
  1.12  integrated with existing health benefit plans.  The commissioner 
  1.13  shall also consult with the commissioners of human services, 
  1.14  health, and commerce in conducting the study.  The commissioner 
  1.15  shall present the findings of and any recommendations resulting 
  1.16  from the study to the legislature before January 16, 1997.
