  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to education; providing for state aid 
  1.3             adjustment to the general education formula training 
  1.4             and experience revenue component; appropriating money. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE ADJUSTMENT AID.] 
  1.7      For fiscal year 1997 only, a school district is eligible 
  1.8   for training and experience adjustment aid.  Training and 
  1.9   experience adjustment aid is equal to the greater of zero or 75 
  1.10  percent of the difference between the amounts calculated under 
  1.11  Minnesota Statutes, section 124A.22, subdivision 4, for fiscal 
  1.12  year 1996, using the training and experience index provided to 
  1.13  school districts prior to the close of that school year and the 
  1.14  revised training and experience index for the same school year. 
  1.15     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION.] 
  1.16     $4,442,000 is appropriated in fiscal year 1998 from the 
  1.17  general fund to the department of children, families, and 
  1.18  learning for payment of training and experience adjustment aid.  
  1.19  The department of children, families, and learning shall pay 
  1.20  training and experience adjustment aid to school districts by 
  1.21  August 31, 1997. 
  1.22     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.23     Section 1 is effective the day following final enactment.
