  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to the office of strategic and long-range 
  1.3             planning; appropriating money for planning and 
  1.4             technology grants to local governments to assist them 
  1.5             in preparing community-based plans. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  [PLANNING GRANTS.] 
  1.8      $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.9   director of the office of strategic and long-range planning for 
  1.10  planning grants to counties, joint planning districts that 
  1.11  include at least one county, or a county and one or more 
  1.12  municipalities within the county, when they submit a joint 
  1.13  planning application to prepare community-based plans.  A county 
  1.14  receiving a grant may provide funding to municipalities within 
  1.15  the county for purposes of the grant.  The office shall give 
  1.16  priority for grants to joint planning districts and joint 
  1.17  applications from a county and one or more municipalities.  This 
  1.18  appropriation is available beginning in fiscal year 2000 and 
  1.19  remains available until June 30, 2001. 
  1.20     Sec. 2.  [TECHNOLOGY GRANTS.] 
  1.21     $....... is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.22  director of the office of strategic and long-range planning for 
  1.23  technology grants to counties, or joint planning districts that 
  1.24  include at least one county, that elect to prepare 
  1.25  community-based plans.  This appropriation is available 
  2.1   beginning in fiscal year 2000 and remains available until June 
  2.2   30, 2001.
