  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to appropriations; appropriating money for a 
  1.3             grant for the Voyageur Center. 
  1.4   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.5      Section 1.  [VOYAGEUR CENTER.] 
  1.6      $350,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.7   commissioner of administration for a grant to the city of 
  1.8   International Falls for the predesign and design of an 
  1.9   interpretive and conference center.  The center shall provide 
  1.10  educational opportunities and enhance tourism by presenting 
  1.11  information and displays which preserve and interpret the 
  1.12  history of the voyageurs and animals involved with the 
  1.13  voyaguers, emphasizing the importance of the fur trade to the 
  1.14  history and development of the region and the state.  The center 
  1.15  shall include conference facilities.  The center shall be 
  1.16  located in the city of International Falls.  The city may enter 
  1.17  into a lease or management contract with a nonprofit entity for 
  1.18  operation of the center.  In developing plans for the facility, 
  1.19  the commissioner must consult with the small business 
  1.20  development center located at Rainy River Community College.
