  1.1                          A bill for an act
  1.2             relating to financial institutions; limiting charges 
  1.3             for cashing certain state warrants; proposing coding 
  1.4             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 48. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [48.1586] [FEES FOR CASHING CERTAIN STATE 
  1.7   WARRANTS.] 
  1.8      No bank, bank and trust company, savings bank, savings 
  1.9   association, or credit union may charge a fee of more than $2 
  1.10  for cashing a state warrant in an amount less than $100.  This 
  1.11  section applies to federally chartered institutions to the 
  1.12  extent permitted by federal law.  
  1.13     Sec. 2.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.14     Section 1 is effective August 1, 1997.
