  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to taxation; clarifying that publicly owned 
  1.3             parking facilities are exempt from taxation; amending 
  1.4             Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 272.02, by adding a 
  1.5             subdivision. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 2000, section 272.02, is 
  1.8   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.9      Subd. 45.  [PUBLICLY OWNED PARKING FACILITIES.] Parking 
  1.10  lots, ramps, structures, garages, and other facilities for 
  1.11  vehicle parking owned by a municipality or authority established 
  1.12  under chapter 469 or any affiliate nonprofit corporate entity 
  1.13  organized by a municipality or authority are exempt, including 
  1.14  those parking lots, ramps, structures, garages, and other 
  1.15  facilities that are in whole or in part operated by, used by, 
  1.16  leased, or subleased to an individual or nonprofit or for-profit 
  1.17  entity. 
  1.18     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective the day after 
  1.19  final enactment.
