  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to highways; designating Mendota bridge as 
  1.3             Purple Heart bridge; amending Minnesota Statutes 1994, 
  1.4             section 161.14, by adding a subdivision. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 161.14, is 
  1.7   amended by adding a subdivision to read: 
  1.8      Subd. 31.  [PURPLE HEART BRIDGE.] The bridge that crosses 
  1.9   the Minnesota river as part of legislative route No. 116, 
  1.10  commonly known as the Mendota bridge, is designated the "Purple 
  1.11  Heart Bridge."  Following consultation with chapter no. 8 of the 
  1.12  Military Order of the Purple Heart, the commissioner of 
  1.13  transportation shall adopt a suitable marking design to mark 
  1.14  this bridge and erect the appropriate signs. 
  1.15     Chapter no. 8 of the Military Order of the Purple Heart 
  1.16  shall pay all costs associated with those signs.
