1.1 A bill for an act 1.2 relating to alcoholic beverages; requiring retail 1.3 establishments to post signs warning of the dangers of 1.4 alcohol consumption by pregnant women; amending 1.5 Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 340A.410, by adding a 1.6 subdivision; repealing Minnesota Statutes 1994, 1.7 sections 144.3871; and 340A.410, subdivision 4a. 1.8 BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 1.9 Section 1. Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 340A.410, is 1.10 amended by adding a subdivision to read: 1.11 Subd. 4b. [NOTICE POSTING.] (a) A premises licensed for 1.12 the retail sale of alcoholic beverages and a municipal liquor 1.13 store must post and maintain in a conspicuous place within the 1.14 licensed premises clearly visible to consumers: one sign 14-1/2 1.15 inches wide by 8 inches high as designed by the commissioners of 1.16 health and public safety, which incorporates the following 1.17 information: (1) the penalties of driving while under the 1.18 influence of alcohol; (2) the penalties for serving alcoholic 1.19 beverages to a person who is obviously intoxicated or under 21 1.20 years of age; and (3) a warning statement regarding drinking 1.21 alcohol while pregnant. 1.22 (b) The commissioners of health and public safety shall 1.23 design a sign that complies with this subdivision and shall make 1.24 the sign available for reproduction. A retail licensee or 1.25 municipal liquor store may not modify the sign design, but may 1.26 make a sign to modify the color. 2.1 Sec. 2. [REPEALER.] 2.2 Minnesota Statutes 1994, sections 144.3871; and 340A.410, 2.3 subdivision 4a, are repealed.
