  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to state lands; authorizing private sale of 
  1.3             certain tax-forfeited land that borders public water 
  1.4             in St. Louis county. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [PRIVATE SALE OF TAX-FORFEITED LAND; ST. LOUIS 
  1.7   COUNTY.] 
  1.8      (a) Notwithstanding Minnesota Statutes, sections 92.45 and 
  1.9   282.018, subdivision 1, and the public sale provisions of 
  1.10  Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282, St. Louis county may convey by 
  1.11  private sale the tax-forfeited land bordering public water that 
  1.12  is described in paragraph (c), under the remaining provisions of 
  1.13  Minnesota Statutes, chapter 282. 
  1.14     (b) The land described in paragraph (c) may be sold by 
  1.15  private sale to Mr. Melvin Scofield of Hibbing, Minnesota and 
  1.16  Mr. John Perko of Virginia, Minnesota.  The conveyance must be 
  1.17  in a form approved by the attorney general. 
  1.18     (c) The land to be conveyed is located in St. Louis county 
  1.19  and is described as: 
  1.20     the North 100 feet of the South 400 feet of Government Lot 
  1.21  1, Section 17, Township 66 North, Range 20 West. 
  1.22     (d) The county has determined that the county's land 
  1.23  management interests would best be served if the lands were 
  1.24  returned to private ownership.
