  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to education; providing for revenue for 
  1.3             transportation for staff development; proposing coding 
  1.4             for new law in Minnesota Statutes, chapter 122A. 
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [122A.623] [STAFF DEVELOPMENT TRANSPORTATION 
  1.7   REVENUE.] 
  1.8      Subdivision 1.  [ELIGIBILITY.] A school district is 
  1.9   eligible for staff development transportation revenue if it 
  1.10  receives sparsity revenue or is adjacent to at least two 
  1.11  districts that are eligible for elementary or secondary sparsity 
  1.12  revenue. 
  1.13     Subd. 2.  [REVENUE.] A school district's revenue equals the 
  1.14  lesser of the district's actual staff development transportation 
  1.15  costs or $200 per teacher. 
  1.16     Subd. 3.  [LEVY.] A district's staff development 
  1.17  transportation levy equals the district's staff development 
  1.18  transportation revenue times the lesser of one or the ratio of 
  1.19  the district's adjusted net tax capacity per adjusted marginal 
  1.20  cost pupil unit to $10,000. 
  1.21     Subd. 4.  [AID.] A district's staff development 
  1.22  transportation aid equals the difference between its staff 
  1.23  development transportation revenue and levy. 
  1.24     [EFFECTIVE DATE.] This section is effective for taxes 
  1.25  payable in 2002 and later.
