A bill for an act
relating to employment; appropriating money for extended employment services
for persons with disabilities; establishing purpose and need for extended
employment services.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA:

Section 1. new text begin PURPOSE AND NEED FOR EXTENDED EMPLOYMENT
SERVICES.

new text begin Pursuant to Minnesota Statutes, section 268A.15, extended employment services
are offered on a statewide basis through a network of nonprofit service providers and
private employers to individuals with severe disabilities and other profound limitations.
The support services offered through the extended employment program allow such
individuals to seek, secure, and maintain employment that encompasses a broad range of
choices and promotes each participant's self-sufficiency and financial independence.

new text begin $5,739,000 is appropriated in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010, and $5,739,000 is
appropriated in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011, from the general fund and $7,420,000
is appropriated in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2010, and $7,420,000 is appropriated
in the fiscal year ending June 30, 2011, from the workforce development fund to the
commissioner of employment and economic development for extended employment
services for persons with severe disabilities and other profound limitations as provided for
under Minnesota Statutes, section 268A.15.
