  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to Lake Minnetonka conservation district; 
  1.3             providing for the appointment of members of the 
  1.4             governing body of the district; amending Minnesota 
  1.5             Statutes 1994, section 103B.611, subdivisions 1 and 2. 
  1.6   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.7      Section 1.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 103B.611, 
  1.8   subdivision 1, is amended to read: 
  1.9      Subdivision 1.  [COMPOSITION.] The district is governed by 
  1.10  a board composed of members elected appointed by the governing 
  1.11  bodies of the municipalities included in the district.  Each 
  1.12  municipality shall elect appoint one member.  
  1.13     Sec. 2.  Minnesota Statutes 1994, section 103B.611, 
  1.14  subdivision 2, is amended to read: 
  1.15     Subd. 2.  [TERM.] The term of office of each board member 
  1.16  is three years unless the appointing municipality recalls the 
  1.17  member and appoints another member for the balance of the term.  
  1.18  Each member serving on the effective date of this act shall 
  1.19  serve until the expiration of the term of the member.  
  1.20  Thereafter, the member shall be appointed by the municipality. 
  1.21     Sec. 3.  [EFFECTIVE DATE.] 
  1.22     Under Minnesota Statutes, section 645.023, subdivision 1, 
  1.23  clause (a), section 1 takes effect, without local approval, the 
  1.24  day following final enactment.
