  1.1                          A bill for an act 
  1.2             relating to agriculture; providing for potato aphid 
  1.3             research; providing for additional research on soybean 
  1.4             diseases and genetics; appropriating money.  
  1.5   BE IT ENACTED BY THE LEGISLATURE OF THE STATE OF MINNESOTA: 
  1.6      Section 1.  [APPROPRIATION; POTATO APHID RESEARCH.] 
  1.7      $200,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.8   University of Minnesota to fund research on potato aphids.  This 
  1.9   appropriation is in addition to other public and nonpublic money 
  1.10  for potato aphid research.  This appropriation is available 
  1.11  until June 30, 2001. 
  1.12     Sec. 2.  [APPROPRIATION; SOYBEAN DISEASES AND GENETICS.] 
  1.13     $1,775,000 is appropriated from the general fund to the 
  1.14  University of Minnesota for fiscal year 2000 for further 
  1.15  research on diseases of soybeans including, but not limited to, 
  1.16  soybean cyst nematode (SCN), white mold (sclerotinia stem rot), 
  1.17  phytophthora root rot (PRR), and iron deficiency chlorosis.  
  1.18  $....... of this appropriation may be designated for research on 
  1.19  specialty gene traits of soybeans.
